A COMPARATIVE STUDY ON LONELINESS IN RELATION TO INTERNET ADDICTION BASED ON GENDER By Boban Eranimos[1] and Neelu Meriam Paul[2] 

 

Abstract

The present study investigates the loneliness in relation to internet addiction based on gender. The total sample consisted of 50 subjects, which include 25 males and 25 females. The descriptive survey method was used for the present study. Simple random selection method was used for sample selection. UCLA Loneliness Scale (Russal. D, 1996) and the Internet Addiction Test, (IAT), (Young, 1998), were used for the present study. The findings of the study revealed that male and female have significant difference in loneliness and internet addiction and female are more lonely and addicted to internet than male subjects. Loneliness is positively correlated with internet addiction in both genders.
