CONSUMER PREFERENCE TOWARDS ORGANISED RETAILING By Nisamudheen T.[1]

 

Abstract

Retailing is considered to be the world’s largest industry with US $ 6.6 trillion sales annually. In India, retailing is considered as the largest employer after agriculture employing over 8% of the population. India has the highest outlet population in the world with over 12 million outlets. The Indian Retail Industry is still evolving as an ‘Industry’, and it has a long way to go. The evolution of the Indian Retail market is quite interesting to be studied. Mainly three objectives are involved in this study. The tools used for this study is percentage analysis, Simple averages and weighted averages. The study focused on consumer’s preference towards organized retailing in Calicut district with an objective of getting valuable suggestions to take strategic decisions and its implementation.
