HUMAN RESOURCES FOR HEALTH IN INDIA; MANAGEMENT AND RETROSPECT By Pranjali Dighe[1]

Abstract

India has a universal health care system run by the constituent states and territories of India. Health is therefore best understood as the indispensable basis for defining a person’s sense of well being. The quality of Indian healthcare is varied. In major urban areas, healthcare is of adequate quality, approaching and occasionally meeting Western standards. However, access to quality medical care is limited or unavailable in most rural areas. Human resources for health in India are always a major problem in terms of management. With the World Health Organization’s 2000 World Health Report ranking India’s healthcare system at 112 out of 190 countries. The paper will focus on the issues of management of health care system in India and problems could be faced due to that. The paper suggests the delivery of human resource in the country, both urban as well as rural and it is based on the secondary data. The conclusion will reflect towards the delivery of good human resource and management for health care system.
