Abstract The study intended to find out the sucession planning process and to know the demoraphic profile of the employees who are working in the higher grade postions in the small and medium scale industries in Kottayam district of Kerala state. The research design is descriptive in nature, the method of random sampling is employed for the selection of the sample.
